Miguel Díaz-Canel, first vice president of Cuba’s Councils of State and Ministers gave a speech during the ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of the death of Che and his compañero.
It is with great emotion that we gather here at this sacred place of the homeland to pay tribute to the protagonists of one of the most important internationalist exploits, an example of the struggle for the liberation of peoples subjected to imperialism. Today, the feat undertaken by Comandante Ernesto Guevara and a small but brave army during an 11 month campaign in Bolivia, moves tender-hearted men and women across the world, stated Party Political Bureau member and First Vice President of Cuba’s Councils of Sate and Ministers, Miguel Díaz Canel- Bermúdez.
Recalling the landscapes where he struggled between life and death, firm in his redemptive commitment, proves to us his altruism, the depth of his convictions, his legacy, his revolutionary and internationalist dimension, he added.
On September 29, 2017, the US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson announced the decision to significantly downscale the diplomatic staff of the US embassy in Havana and withdraw all their relatives, claiming that there had been “attacks” perpetrated against US Government officials in Cuba which have harmed their health.
Once again, on October 3, the US Government, in an unwarranted act, decided that 15 officials of the Cuban Embassy in Washington should depart from the United States, claiming that the US had reduced their diplomatic staffing levels in Havana and that the Cuban Government had failed to take all appropriate steps to prevent “attacks” against them.
Once again, U.S. President Donald Trump demonstrated his political appetite as a provocative war-mongering imperialist. This time, speaking at the U.N. General Assembly, Trump lashed out at Venezuela, Cuba, Iran and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in a speech full of provocation and hate.
According to Reuters, Cuba on Tuesday slammed U.S. President Donald Trump's latest comments about the island as "disrespectful, unacceptable and meddling," while reiterating it was not involved in the alleged incidents that had harmed U.S. diplomats in Havana.

Speech by Comandante Fidel Castro Ruz on the 50th anniversary of the attack on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes Garrisons, in Santiago de Cuba, 26 July 2003:
It seems almost unreal to be here in this same place 50 years after the events we are commemorating today, which took place that morning of July 26, 1953. I was 26 years old back then; today, 50 more years of struggle have been added to my life.
Way back then, I could not have imagined for even a second that this evening, the few participants in that action who are still alive would be gathered here, together with those, gathered here or listening to us all around the country, who were influenced by or participated directly in the Revolution; together with those who were children or teenagers back then; with those who were not even born yet and today are parents or even grandparents; with whole contingents of fully fledged men and women, full of revolutionary and internationalist glory and history, soldiers and officers in active duty or the reserves, civilians who have accomplished veritable feats; with a seemingly infinite number of young combatants; with dedicated workers or enthusiastic students, as well as some who are both at the same time; and with millions of children who fill our imagination of eternal dreamers. And once again, life has given me the unique privilege of addressing all of you.
Major abstracts of an interview by Aleida Guevara, daughter of the heroic Comandante Ernesto Che Guevara, during her recent visit in Cyprus. The interview was published in the portal Dialogos/ Translation in english: In Defense of Communism:
We talked about great personalities like Fidel, Che, Raul, Camilo. Their personalities frequently overshadow the Revolution of the Cuban people and the resistance which lasts for so many years. Something that imperialism feeds with illusions is (the perception) that the biological death of Fidel and Revolution's leaders will result to her collapse. How do you comment?
In his intervention regarding the "EU-Cuba Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement" at the European Parliament's plenary in Strasbourg, the MEP of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE)Kostas Papadakis pointed out the following:
"The unacceptable resolution which the EU and the European Parliament promote consists an organised plan of EU monopolies' penetration, formation of reactionary mechanisms and NGOs in Cuba. Both the US embargo, as well as the EU interventions are against the Cuban people.
The EU and her governments of imperialist wars and interventions, of the officially 20 million unemployed people, of the tens of millions who live under the poverty limits, wag the lecturing figure about human rights to the Cuban people who for decades erased unemployment, who expressed the need for the abolition of the exploitation of man by man. In a country which, despite sanctions, had achievements which were intangible for the capitalist countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
In a statement regarding the declarations of Donald Trump about the U.S. policy towards Cuba, the International Relations Section of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) points out:
"The KKE condemns the recent announcements of the President of the USA regarding the policy towards Cuba, his intention to continue and strengthen the policy of intervention in Cuba's internal affairs and to maintain the criminal blockade by the USA despite international outcry.
On June 16, US President Donald Trump cancelled ex-President Obama’s policy to advance bilateral relations with Cuba and announced the new Cuban policy of his government.
The speech of Trump will go down in history as a disgrace not only for its content based on lies and distortion, but also for its arrogant, pretentious, ugly and menacing tone, which reflected all the aspects of the degenerate bourgeois political culture.
June 16th, 2017, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, in
a speech full of hostile rhetoric, which recalled the times of the
open confrontation with our country, pronounced in a Miami theater,
announced the policy of his Government to Cuba that reverses progress
achieved in the last two years, after the presidents Raul Castro Ruz
and Barack Obama on December 17th, 2014 announced the decision to
reestablish diplomatic relations and begin a process towards the
normalization of bilateral ties.

SANTA CLARA– The presence of Comandante Ernesto Che Guevara in this city will be remembered with a series of activities this June 14, on the occasion of the 89th anniversary of his birth.

Cuban President Raul Castro responded to the unacceptable and provocative comments of Donald Trump by characterizing U.S. President's statement on Cuban Independence Day as "ridiculous and controversial".
More specifically, as Telesur reports, in
a broadcast on Cuban state television Saturday, President Raul Castro
said Trump’s imperial
castigation of the communist island as
home to “cruel despotism” were "the contradictory and clumsy
pronouncements of the millionaire magnate-turned-president on issues
of both foreign and domestic policy."
Saturday marking 115 years since Cuba’s victory against Spanish
colonial and U.S. military rule, Trump offered his timeworn criticism
against the country, saying, "The Cuban people deserve a
government that peacefully defends democratic values, economic
freedoms, religious freedoms and human rights. And my administration
is committed to achieving that vision.”
Translated abstract of a speech given in honor of
Comandante Fidel Castro Ruz;Greece, 28.4.2017*.
death of Fidel Castro last November unfolded, both
in Greece as well as internationally, an orchestrated attack against
the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution and socialist Cuba. A
patchwork of anticommunism, from the far-right to the edge of social
democracy, didn't lose the opportunity to slander the cuban
revolutionary, either by attributing to him various characterizations
(e.g dictator, controversial personality, etc) or by reproducing
proven lies about his supposed fabulous wealth and personal life.
tried to vilify Fidel with numerous slanders.... That he was a
dictator who installed a repressing establishment, that socialism was
proved- as some claimed- a 'chimera' which gave birth to
authoritarianism, lack of democracy and freedom.

The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Dimitris Koutsoumbas met this morning with the Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Eduardo Rodriguez Parrilla at the Party's headquarters in Perissos, Athens. The meeting took place within the framework of Minister Parrilla's two-day visit in Greece.
After the meeting, Dimitris Koutsoumbas made the following remarks:
The Party of Communists USA (PCUSA) was founded on May Day 2014. Formed out of the ashes of the Communist Party USA, the PCUSA aspires to become the base for a new beginning for the communist movement in the United States. On the occasion of Donald Trump's rise to power, we asked from the PCUSA to share with us the party's views on some topics.
Below we publish the response we exclusively received by the PCUSA's Council of Secretaries.
On the occasion of the 58th anniversary of the victory of the Cuban Revolution, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) send to the Communist Party of Cuba (Partido Comunista de Cuba) the following message:
"To the CC of the CP of Cuba.
Athens, Thursday 29 December 2016.
The KKE warmly salutes the 58th anniversary of the victory of the Revolution in Cuba.
Cuban President Raul Castro said that the socialist country will not head towards capitalism, as the country prepares for the first anniversary of the Cuban Revolution after the death of his brother Fidel.
Raul spoke at the national assembly, after over a month since he announced to the world the death of revolutionary leader Fidel Castro on November 25.
He spoke about the economy of the nation predicting that the economy will grow and the Gross Domestic Product will grow moderately at around 2 percent.
To achieve this, three decisive premises must be fulfilled: ensuring exports and their timely billing, increasing domestic production that replaces imports, and reducing all non-essential expenses, he added.
The president also said the country shouldn’t be afraid of foreign capital arriving on the island.
According to news reports, in the inauguration of the 5th Congress of the Party of the European Left (EL), which takes place in Berlin, the participants kept a minute of silence as a tribute to the late Cuban revolutionary Fidel Castro.
The Party of the European Left, which is composed by social democratic (e.g. SYRIZA, Die Linke etc.) and opportunist parties (e.g. French Communist Party), tries to pose as a "friend" of Socialist Cuba. What an irony!
However, in 2013, the same "European Left" was applauding the known Cuban anticommunist Guillermo Farinas when he was receiving the Sakharov Prize at the European Parliament! The award ceremony, back in 2013, had been attended by Gabi Zimmer, member of the German 'Die Linke' party and president of the GUE/NGL European Parliamentary Group.
‘The 20th century is over now’ was the headline of Hurriyet after the death of Fidel Castro. This journal had stirred in me a particular feeling of disgust since my early youth; it is a kind of official journal, the strong voice of the dominant ideology, always great and wealthy, and steadyingly the flagship of the fight against communism.
Hurriyet, independent from its owner, is the representative of the intelligence, for whatever remains in the idiocratic system to be called so, of the capitalist class.
The headline of ‘the 20th century is over now’, without doubt, should be considered as a hideous ideological assault, including the intimidation of ‘now you’re screwed’, against those who cannot accept today’s world. However, this inferiority, this respectlessnes does not annihilate the intelligence inherent in the headline.
